I am in the process of installing the bumper on my 69. There is a mounting hole in the bumper just outboard of the curve. It takes a bracket that the manual says attaches to the front fender. The fender isn't even close and there are no mounting holes if it was. Is it possible that it attaches to the valance and not the fender. The valance is not installed.

That bolt connects to a support rod that goes through a hole in the valance.

I think the bracket is up side down, it bolts to the valance just above the side marker light

Oops, you're right. I thought it was the one towards the front. Those bolt to the valance.

I think horse is right. You have the bracket upside down. Its in the right hole on the bracket, you just need to flip it over and put it back thru the same hole. Bolts thru the valence.
