I'm new to c-4's , I was looking into a lentech aod, but was told to get a c-4 because they are alot lighter.. Is there any other advandages? I also noticed c-4's are cheaper!! i was looking at the lentech strip terminator with trans brake for an example of what I'm looking for.....

I know. I know.... I tried to search BUT if you plug in aod or c4 or c-4 nothing will come up because not enough letters....

thank you,, tony

One big difference is that the C4 is a 3 speed with 1:1 top gear; the AOD is a 4 speed with a very tall top gear - .675:1 overdriven I believe. If you're drag racing the car only, that difference won't matter. If it's street driven especially on the highway, it'll be a noticeable difference obviously.

C4 is much stronger than an AOD, but there is no overdrive. If you are youing the car as a daily driver, a c4 will kill your gas mileage, cause your motor to run a little warmer

I don't know about that. A built up AOD (TCI street fighter AOD) is just as strong or even stronger then a C4, the down side is the AOD cost alot more to build.

Thank you guys, I know about the 3 speed, my gas mileage is horrible abyways, I don't drive the car much at all, I really don't think I need the od for what I do with the car, the money I would save would be a big plus!!

Are the driveshafts the same?

micheal I wish i could meet you and see your car... Your a very knowledgable person who always helps out with stupid ?'s.. , thank you!!! tony

You can use the stock drive shaft with a C4.

FYI a way to go with strong, but light tranny is a turbo 350. UGH! Yes, the generals tranny, but stronger than a c4 and lighter than a c6.

....Or direct replacement aluminum.

I wish I would have bought the aluminum at the old price. I have a c4 and the stock driveshaft works fine. Not sure if the yolk changes, but that is easy to do.

Use the same speedo gear as a T-5 and C6.And a C4 IS a stronger trans than a AOD.

thanks for all your replies guys, I wish I could have searched the forums for this but it really stinks we can't search for something like c4 or c-4 or anything like that, I'm sure thaers a hundred posts like this, but you guys helped me figure this stuff out.....

I will be getting a c-4 now, since there ALOT cheaper to change to a c-4 than a aod, and they seem to be a choice of high horsepowered runners in here..

again , a huge thanks,,, tony
