I'd really like to see a link or a pic of that... My friends were only able to click off 16.1-16.3's. Yes, they aren't the best drivers but 1 second is a LOT of discrepancy. They trapped 88 MPH.

EDIT: I checked http://www.car-stats.com , which just lists car mag 1/4 times... In 2/99 C&D tested a 5 speed v6, ran 15.6 @ 90 MPH.

I have clipped and saved EVERY Mustang road test from C&D & some other rags going back 15 years. I do not recall C&D ever testing a V6 Mustang with MTX from the 99-04 era. In the C&D article on the 2005 Mustang V6 they mention that they have NOT tested a Mustang V6 in 10 years which confirms my memory.

I don't know why the 2002 GT Coupe automatic C&D tested was so dog slow other than there was a problem with that particular test car as C&D did run a 14.7 @ 96 MPH in a 2001 GT Convertible with Auto trannie.

C&D's times tend to be slower as they are corrected for temperature, humidity, wind, altitude & barometric pressure in an attempt to make comparisons among different car tests done at different times more meaningful.

In any case I thing C&D's assesment of the 05 V6s performance is a bit optimistic as 99-04 GT Coupes with auto trannies are capable of mid 14's bone stock, so if you own one I really wouldn't loose any sleep worrying that you'll get blown away by an '05 V6.

Maybe not your everyday V6, but there are blowers, cams and serious exhaust systems to make those little motors push out 275+ horses now. Going to such levels however could require a forged internals...

I know someone out there crazy enough has tried this. It'd be a blast to see.
