Hey, I thought this was a Mustang board?

If the topic is best car, new or used for 32,000 to 36,000, then I don't think any new car would win. Neither would a used Vette IMO, but I admit I don't like Vettes. I'd probably say a used M3 or a 95-98 911 (last of the air cooled Porsches) but then I can't see myself ever owning a German car either. For $35k I think I'd take a 69.5 440-6 Road Runner, which would be super fun to drive and would only appreciate in value.

More "kids" wreck mustangs. The avg. Vette buyer is at least 10 years older than the Stang. Most Vettes are second cars, were the Mustang is the primary car for a lot more people.

You also have to take into concideration that a 2-seater raises prices up a bit over a 4-seater.

I personally am also looking at '05's or a '00-'02 C5. I have seen a couple used c5's for around 23-30k here in seattle area, all with good miles. I would take any c5 still under warranty over an '05 stang right now. Maybe my opinion will change when the new cobras or limited edition stangs start rollin out.

"So you are saying that the stang has no problems? I think it goes either way. As far as a warranty goes, let's assume that if your on this board, your have mods on your car so the warranty is pretty much no good."

What I am saying is that my dad works for a chevy dealership in orlando and is responsible for service on all vette's and only handles the higher end cars. I know how many problems they have and I know how expensive repairs are. If your getting used you will be out of warranty faster which means this will be coming out of your pocket. Thats why I said if you buy the vette make sure you get an extended warranty.

Instead of arguing which is better and all that, lets put it this way: which would you rather have? It makes no sense to argue over which has better performance, looks, handling, etc. because they are both in different classes.

Used C5 vs. 2005 Stang should come down to what suits your needs better. 2 seats vs. 4 seats makes a big deal for a daily driver. If it is just a for-fun-car then I guess it doesn't matter.

I'm saving my bottle return money for a 2007 Z51 C6

i wouldn't buy a used chevrolet again,in fact i wouln't buy a used car again. if you have the money get a brand new 05 mustang. if you can afford a little bit more, get a brand new corvette. do not spent 30K or more on an used car. trust me, you won't want to deal with with maintenance costs on this used chevrolets.

It was several that were knocking off big dollars. One was Landmark Chevrolet. It was in the weekend classifieds. We were looking at them at work. Some only had a few to choose from at the low price, but one dealer had like 12. It was 10k off of msrp. Just found an ad from Friday, Mack Haik had verts for 9k off. Had 11 of them. 42k for an 04 vert. I think it was Landmark that had coupes for 10k off. The way they are marking these things off, I would not pay over 30k for a used one.

This is a good year for those wanting '04 Vettes and '04 Mustangs. Lots of sick deals out there.

Yeah, but after getting my new vette quarterly and reading the article on the 05, I would save my money and get one of those. Lots of little improvements in quality, HUD is standard with more info, a little longer and wider track, three suspension choices, not to mention 400hp standard.

They are two completley different cars that have a totally different class, and usually appeal to different people. If you want a 4 seater than you only have one choice, a mustang while usually appeal to the younger generation, and a C-5 to guys going through a mid-life crisis. Ultimatley it is up to you but truly these are cars that really can't be compared legitimatley.

Really depends on you. I wouldnt even think about it, id get the Vette. To me it looks 100x better than the 05 Stang, about 20x better than the current Stang. So on looks it wins (for me), it obviously has more power too if that's what your into. Thanks to the v6 the Mustang is a VERY familiar shape on the road, sure the v8's are nicer but they aren't all that different, Corvettes still stand out IMO. But don't get a used one for over 30k.... look harder, Ive seen one or two around here for around 23k.

C5!!

long tubes exhaust intake and a cam, you have yourself a nasty nasty little car that will:

destroy 05 mustangs, handles twice as well, pull more attention, look twice as good have better resale, sound incredible.
