I just pulled the car out of storage and have had the problem twice since she has been out, now I won't take it out until I can get it fixed.

I thought at first that poor wiring was not allowing my Vortech in-line fuel pump to work, and after inspecting wires for replacement this afternoon I found part of the power wire broken. No problem, I replaced the wire, cleaned up the ground, and I can hear it priming every time. The in-line is loud, but I was also able to make out the sound of my in-tank pump priming as well.

When I turn the key forward my fuel pressure gauge will, currently, read anywhere from 0-3 PSI. I checked the wiring on the gauge and all appears well. The car did drive about 10 miles home out of storage without a hiccup, so I'm really racking my brain here. Anyway, the car will start for about 2 seconds and then die.

I thought about my fuel filter, but I didn't think a filter could cause this type of issue. I am still leaning towards some type of electrical problem, but I can't imagine what it would be? The in-line pump relay is triggered by a wire in the trunk, I'm wondering if maybe there is a faulty or poor connection there? I haven't checked that yet, but otherwise I'm out of ideas.

Any help would be appreciated!

once it dies, is it hard to start again?

After it dies it can take 2-5 seconds to start, but it would and then die within a couple seconds.

I unwrapped the tapped trigger wire for the in-line relay. My brother scraped the coating off of the factory wire so the wire was exposed but unbroken, and then he wrapped the relay wire around the factory wire and then wrapped it in electrical tape. I decided to solder the wires together and then wrap it back up in electrical tape.

After that, I have fuel pressure again. I've only started the car twice because my battery is weak. I'm going to replace it today.

If I don't have any more issues then I'll consider the issue a combination of a grounding out power wire and a poorly connected relay trigger wire, but after only 2 starts I'm not willing to call the problem solved yet, but we can hope.

If there are any further changes I'll post.

poor grounds can cause all kinds of headaches. i wouldn't be surprised a bit if that was the issue.

So far so good. I drove it all over the place yesterday without as much as a single hiccup. I'm not brave enough to drive it to work yet (20 miles one way), but if it stays running well for another week I probably will.
