cant remove shifter base...

i am trying to remove the shifter base to change the trans fluid as sugggested. rather than trrying to rig up some sort of pump to fill from the plug

it is a triax i installed about 1yr ago with RTV. the thing is stuck on hard. i tried prying with a screwdriver and hitting with a rubber mallet but did not want to mess up the aluminum?

You may have already done this but instead of just prying at one point, pry a little here and then pry a little there. Work around the base as best you can. It should eventually give. I had sort of the same problem with the stock shifter but yours may be stuck more. That's my suggestion... Good luck.

after all bolts removed.. hit shifter handle left to right and right to left a bunch of times, and do not! use alot of force, itl come free in less than a minute.

tried for a while, no luck. ended up removing fill plug and filling with a funnel with flexible tube on the bottom from the shifter area

i did try prying in several spots and worked my way around, never gave a bit. just torqued the bolts back down, hope it is still sealed

btw, these torque specs look about right? did not have a shop manual

drain and fill plugs- 10ftlbs with teflon tape
shifter base 20ft-lbs
shifter handle - 20ftlbs with blue locktight

I had to kick mine pretty hard. But it came out. Better luck next time.

dude, just buy a pump and fill from the bottom. $13 from any tool truck
