Gates open at 4PM; be early if possible. We are in the lead and we need everyone if we intend to stay in first place. We usually park just inside the pit area. Look to the right as soon as you pass the gas pumps. We usually have a blue awning over soda and food for Ford Drag Team members.

Who's in?

Can't make it.

I'm on my second clutch in a month and it's not broken in yet ... tune is untuned.

And I'm not leaving work again early to race a Metro. I was without my car for a month and a half only to have it towed to a shop at midnight less then a week after getting it back.

I feel bad but I can't afford in several spectrums to make it out there tomorrow. This is my first missed race. My contract is ending in 1 1/2 months and these $1,400 surprises hurt ... it was over $5k surprise when the car originally went down.

Just come to the next race which is double points. Everyone misses a few. I have missed four this year. This must be fun. When it stops being fun, it's time to take a break.

What kind of clutch costs $1400?

Your last repair bill was more than my '82 -and that is with the new engine.

$215 tow +
$480 install first round (before we decided the clutch was too far gone) +
$450 shipped for clutch +
$250 for second install

There were other costs involved but it cracks that amount. This car has been a joke.

Debating the double points race but I might as well take up knitting.

Right.

I've done clutch installs before, but sometimes you just don't have the time to do it yourself and it's worth every penny.

Just a lot of pennies.

Once you get far enough beyond the factory power level, the costs rise exponentially.
