Engine Car Has Been Cutting Out??

Ok so the past couple times of driving my 01 MustangGT it like cuts out to the point where I lose power the radio shuts off and turns back on while it kicks the cd out of the player and then starts back up with out doing anything with turning the key. PLEASE HELP

Save yourself a possible wild goose chase and have a through look at the battery and charging system.

Is the battery good? Does it hold a charge?

Are the battery terminals CLEAN and tight? How about the battery negative? These are bad about splitting if over tightened.

How about the grounds around the radiator core support? Are the clean and tight?

Have the alternator tested for correct output and excessive AC ripple (bad diode). Most auto parts stores will test for free.

Post back when certain the charging system is in tip top shape.

Yea everything is clean but kind of iffy on the battery since I drive it maybe twice a year and the battery is atleast 4-5 year old red top battery

Start with the battery/alt. These cars are power finicky.

Your post is a bit vague.

Is the vehicle itself shutting off intermittently or just the radio? Factory or aftermarket? If factory, Mach 460?
