I would start with a thorough code yanking.

Continuing to run can be a couple things but perhaps codes can shed some light..........

Good luck.

It's not pre-igniting is it? Where there is carbon buildup that stays hot and ignites the fuel with no spark... that would be bad.

Dieseling was much more common on carb'd stuff. I dont think I've ever seen an EFI car diesel.

it's the same thing regardless of fuel system.

That can't be good that could be a whole dirrerent problem on it's own.

I'll beg to differ. Without fuel (injectors are off), it's hard for dieseling to occur. The different methods of fuel introduction (carbed vs injectors) is what makes the difference. That's one cool thing about electronically controlled fuel metering.

Some carbs would only flow fuel if the idle solenoid received 12 volts, and this device was to help with dieseling.

perhaps the injectors are not stoping. you said it was only for a few seconds so it could still be dieseling or running on with what little fuel was left at the injectors stopped pulsing. i see your point though hissin.
