I believe they flushed the coolant when I had the 30,000 mile service a couple months ago, but Im not sure so I will look at the receipt when I get home today. I was wondering about the fan too, I realized that I hadnt been hearing the fan come on at all, so I checked to see if it was still working. I ran the car with the hood open and waited for the fan to come on, and low and behold it came on just as it was supposed to. So, I guess I just didnt notice it coming on. As far as changing when it comes on, I have not altered anything.

Had the same issue with my car. Car fully warmed up and light acceleration, like marbles in a coffee can.

I changed the plugs and wires, 90% of the ping went away. How many miles are on the car? If you took it in a assume the O2 sensors and MAF are ok, should have thrown codes if bad.

Check the....
fuel filter
make sure you have a mix of antifreeze and water, not straight aintfreeze
Sea Foam it
EGR not plugged up

The screen is intended to straighten the air flow and also, possibly as an unpredicted side effect, fattens the AFR. Removing leans the motor out.

The metal screen is not there for filtering. It's there to straighten out the airflow so the Maf sensor can get an accurate reading. Inaccurate Maf readings =rich/lean condition.

The car has 33,500 miles on it. It doesnt throw any codes, Ive scanned it with my predator and nothing comes up, and there is no check engine light. I would like to get the plugs changed since I just dont believe that plugs can really last 100,000 miles and still do their job properly. Any ideas how much it costs to get plugs changed in one of these cars?

i think book time is 2 or 3 hours. you can do it yourself, its not that difficult if you hav eth right tools.

Yeah, change the plugs yourself. I suggest Motorcraft AGSF-32C.

www.bullittarchive.com has some info on this and lots of other minor maintenance...

OK guys, I put the stock air box with screen back on the car. Here are my observations: Engine is alot quieter. I never realised how loud the open element air filter that came with FIPK was. Car does seem a little down on power now, although that may be because I reset the computer while I was doing the air box. Car doesnt seem to be able to chirp the tires as hard on the 1-2 shift as it had before I did this work(Although the car usually doesnt chirp as hard when its hot out). The pinging seems to have stoped. Again, this may be because of the computer reset or the air box swap. As a side note, it was a beotch getting the K&N ait inlet tube to wirk with the stock air box. I also bought a bottle of Techroline to put in with the next fill up, so we will see if that helps with anything. All in all today was a pretty godd test since it was 80 degrees here and the car tends to have its problem when it gets hot out. I guess it will be a few more days before I can say for sure if this stuff fixed the problem or not. Also, is it just me or does it seem like the FIPK might rotate the MAF a little bit from its stock location? When I put it bact to stock it looked like the connection was pointing a little more upwards than it did with the FIPK. I know rotating the MAF can cause rich/lean conditions, so I wonder if this was part of the problem? I think I should just get a blower and a tune and be done with it
