car starting when trying to connect battery

the car wasnt starting so we replaced the starter and the starter solenoid. we also replaced the battery and when we try and connect the battery it starts sparking and the car starts trying to start. the keys arent in or anywhere around the ignition. any suggestions?

It sounds like either the starter solenoid is bad or it is wired wrong.

thats what i was afraid of. anyone got pics of the way the starter solenoid should be wired? something to compare the car to.

im confused as to what wires should be leaving the starter solenoid and what they are.

The heavy guage cable from the battery should be on the opposite side of the solinoid from the starter cable.

Thats a start anyway.
