Guys I need a few ideas of where to start looking. I wanted to set the timing, so I removed spout. Engine will not start, no matter where distribitor is turned. Plug spout in, starts fine. For now the timing is set at about 25* with spout in, just to allow him to get it back and forth to my house. We did pull the #1 plug and verify TDC and timing and location of the dist and #1 location on the cap.
Here is a little bit about the car. My friend just purchased an 89gt with a few problems. The car seems to have been to the ghetto repair shop.
1) Car will not crank with key. Previous owners solution: Run a battery cable from each side of the solenoid into the drivers compartment. Touch battery clamps together to crank. Actual problem: bad clutch switch
While troubleshooting the this problem, I noticed alot of wires cut and spliced or just cut under the dash.
2) No ECT. Previous owner installed a water temp gauge in the port for the ECT sensor and just left unplugged. My buddy is going buy a new sensor today.
3) Oil pressure sensor removed and replaced with mechanical oil pressure gauge.
The are just the most glaring problems that have been found so far. I am sure there are many more to come, lol.
Any and all help will be appriciated.
Thanks in advance,
Patrick
