I installed a shorter belt bypassing the smog pump and the A/C yesterday. However, I have not had time to remove the actual pump(s) and hoses...

Could this cause potential harm running the car? Thanks.

No harm. By bypassing them, they just do nothing at all.

not exactly, do you still have cats on the car? if so you need the smog pump to deliver air to the cats so they will "light off" and not get clogged up!

This is true. However, the cats have been removed.

Go for the gold then man Drop some weight and start pulling the A/C, pump, and the lines out.

That's really only a problem with the original crappy cats that came on the car. Most newer cats have no use for the AIR pump. My VRS x-pipe with carsound cats has no provision for the AIR pump and it doesn't need one.
