I picked up my Torch Red GT two weeks ago today, and I am still amazed at the incredible amount of attention that it generates. Other cars nearly collide with me while the drivers gawk, pedestrians of all ages point & stare, and I am constantly approached by grinning awe-struck people wanting to know how I like the car. I suppose it's understandable, as I still have not seen another 05 Mustang on the road between Pittsburgh and Washington DC. It's kind of a double edged sword. Although the attention sometimes wears thin, it's a kick tooling around in a car that is still pretty exclusive. The BMW 330 coupe that I traded never got a raised eyebrow - and though it was an incredible car, it was not as exciting to drive as is this Mustang!

You may not believe this, but driving a lightly modified Mustang Cobra II has brought me similar response for the better part of the last 28 years. In my case, and at this point in time, it is moreso because of the total lack of such mid 70's vintage Mustangs on the road anywhere. Your new '05 is in part receiving much attention for this reason too, but in addition and doubly so by the newness of its retro styling that is receiving so much press.
Certainly, this trend will continue during strongly during your first year of ownership, until the streets become saturated with them and the '06's come out. The car will always be a looker in my mind...but, you may have to go another 5-10 years out after the first few, before it will generate that kind of response again, after they become more commonplace.

i was out cruisin on my first friday night with the new screamin yellow 05 gt, and i caught up with a pack of stangs. amongst them were 5 cobras, 2 saleens (1 was an s281E), a number of modded up last gen gt's, and some other stock gt's and a couple v6's.

the saleen and cobra drivers were gawking at my car when everyone pulled into a parking lot. it was a good feeling.
