I've been kinda reading about ceramic coatings too over on Reddit in the AutoDetailing sub there. Lots of good things about ceramic coatings in general, but the big downside if it's done professionally and done correctly, it gets expensive real quick. How much depends on the level of work needed prior to applying the actual coating...what they do is polish the paint to as perfect as possible, then apply the coating to "lock in" the shine. It stays that way for ~1 year or so (depending on the coating). Maintenance is slightly different than a standard wash, but nothing crazy.
New paint shouldn't require too much prep though, maybe a little polishing to get any swirls out. But it's not like you're gonna need heavy compounding and stuff like that.

I talked with Ford and they said on a new car, a ceramic type coating can be put on top of their protectant sealant without voiding it’s warranty. The detsiler I’ve been talking to use a product that ends up being 9 microns thick and has the ability to self heal from minor scratches. He estimated me at about $700 for it on a new 2019 vehicle.
correction on my part, detailer said probably starting at $700. He said the prep work (if any) is what will increase the price.

I’ll look into that. The detailer gave me a free bottle of Feynlab soap and another bottle of sealer.do yourself right by picking up. bottle of "the last coat v2". freaking amazingand I've researched the hell out of this topic.
