I decided to change the plug wires on my 1971 Mach 1. I had no idea how old they were. Replacement seemed to go well, car started right up and ran good. Except it will not idle down after warmed up. It idles so fast it will go over 10 mph from a standing start. Can replacing wires change the idle? Carb is a Summit 4 bbl less than 6 months old.

A couple things come to mind
One is just as shem said you either knock a vacuum line off or caused one to crack from being old and brittle.
The other being that someone made some adjustments to run as best it could not knowing plug wires were bad and know it runs like it should. If its not vacuum the try as adjusting your idle and you may have to adjust timing too.
