I have had trouble starting my 96 GT in the morning lately and am pretty sure that its my fuel pump. Once the car is started, the motor tends to idle high and has a bucking problem when shifting for the first few minutes or so. At any rate, can anyone give me some instructions on changing my fuel pump? I should probably change my fuel filter while I'm at at. Thanks.

Yep, grab a factory service manual, or a chilton and hook it up. I think Autozone.com has procedures for your year vehicle under their repair info section.

I would change your fuel filter first and clean or change your IAC before tackling the fuel pump.

Just something to think about before you go dropping your tank, etc...

Yup, change the fuel filter first. Its cheap and like a 5 minute job. If that doesn't work, then start looking at the fuel pump.

$10 fuel filter, 20 seconds to disconnect it and reinstall a new one

What are your plans with the car?
If your going to be hopping it up. I suggest replacing the pump with a nice 255lph pump. Afterall your car is a returnstyle and dropping the tank is no fun.

For the hard start issues. I suggest cleaning the injectors, and a nice regular maintance tuneup. plugs, wires, clean MAF, new airfilter (or clean the reuseable), oil and filter change. In short spend a quality day with your stang and tools.
