There are a number of direct bolt ins. We just installed a Flaming River into a 66, it bolted in well. I do not like having 3 u joints in the steering linkage. I was also very disappointed to find out after the fact ( no one told us and it is not in their literature or website) that you can only use stock exhaust or their special $700 headers. With all the other mods we are doing we have not had it on the road yet.
The one from TCS total control systems looks very well thought out and seems to address most of these issues but I have not seen one installed.
I personally am going with an AJE tubular K-member that includes lower control arms that use SN95 spindles; this particular setup also uses a "front steer" configuration, which necessitates the use of a standard "Fox-body" oil pan, and it also uses a stock "Fox-Body" rack kit, too.
The use of a SN95 spindle allows me to use 13" Cobra brakes, and with the use of an adapter, I can also use my stock upper control arms as well (the orignal AJE kit was designed to convert over to struts).
The price of the AJE tubular K-member, tubular lower control arms (which, by the way--eliminate the need to use the strut rods), power rack and installation kit was $1278 + shipping. The price of the spindle adapters is something like $90 + shipping. I just bought a brand new set of Cobra front calipers off of E-Bay for $125 shipped, and I found a set of slotted 13" Cobra rotors for $75 + shipping off of E-bay as well. I bought a pair of '94-'95 spindles for $90 shipped, so converting to power rack & pinion, with new larger late-model Cobra brakes is going to cost me around $1700.
Compare that to the price of the most popular kit, the one from Randall's Racks, which is priced around $1695 (for just the rack kit--no upgraded brakes), and I think it's a STEAL!

I will also have to purchase a set of larger wheels and tires, but hey, that's usually one of the first upgrades done to these cars anyway! I found a set of brand new 18" wheels and tires for less than a grand, and probably will go that route.
Now . . . having said all that . . . there are people on the board here who have constructed their *own* rack & pinion kits, for a considerable savings over the price of one of these kits.
