I am somewhat surprised that the Brits like the Mustang. They usually look down their noses at any American automobile. It goes to show that their is no denying the classic Mustang.

Clarkson is really funny, you should see the one on the new ford gt. He'd call it a blue collar, working class hero compared to the white collar posh ferraris etc.

Top Gear seems to like muscle cars a lot, but they also include words like big, fat, stupid, brute, can't take corners yadda yadda. But they do really respect them.

Just yesterday I picked up my British boss from the airport in my '68. He was beside himself with surprise and admiration (he couldn't get over the feeling of 'muscle' and loved the feel of the motor and the sound of the Flowmaster 40s).

By the end of the day he thanked me profusely for the experience, and was finally able to understand America's obsession with the Mustang

He'd become quite a Mustang fan by the time he left. There may be one in his future

"it sounded like god roaring"

"...the Mexicans brought the smoking materials..." he cracks me up

I was cringing when he was doing donuts in the gravel...I couldn't help but think about the lower q-panel paint being completely destroyed...

Top Gear has to be the best motoring show on TV, and Clarkson is just so funny.

I could go on for ages about the whole American cars in Europe thing, but this is a tech thread - and I own a Mustang! They liked the Monaro (Pontac GTO too...)

I still have trouble figuring them out on that show. The Lightning was crucified by the whole cast(something about being huge and pointless), yet *mostly* good things were said about the GT. There is one trend I noticed: both the Mustang and GT fit on British roads....

Clarkson is great. I second whoever said Top Gear is the best car show out there. They are honest and funny about their reviews while serious at the same time.
