All you need to do is line it up, duct tape it in place, then get underneath drill some holes and put some plugs in the holes to keep it in place. Everyone usually leaves their chin spoiler black, although I know there is two or three people here who have painted theirs to match their car color.

If you paint it you will have to use paint that can flex for when you bottom it out and hit parking blocks with it.

I think the drill bit size you need is 1/4 inch.

Be aware there are two ways to install (line up) the chin spoiler. One is to keep it flush with the front of the car (leaves a small gap at each end in front of the wheels) or to line it up flush at both ends and leave a small gap under the center. The factory Mach 1's use the latter method. Both look good - it's a matter of personal prference. I like leaving it black.

I think it looks better black and definitely note what newstangman said about alignment on the front or the sides.

This is a cheap appearance mod that can substantially change the look of you car.

Also, they ship them two ways; rolled and unrolled. Unrolled costs more because it is in a bigger box but it is already the correct shape. If I were ordering one I would get the unrolled...

Bought the "unrolled" version and it lined up perfectly. Drill the holes from the center out and be careful on the last 2 holes on each end. I had to re-drill one of them as the spoiler bowed slightly despite my careful alignment. Also, one last tip - cut the last 2 end rivet heads in half so they will mount flush!!!

Yeah i wouldn't suggest painting it. Or you'll just have to keep touching it up.

You can get them at the dealer too if you want to save the shipping and get it unrolled. Then again it may cost more.

About 2 years ago I bought one from the dealership for $62.00. Last week I went to the same dealership and they want $83.00.

You may want to get better screws also. That's a judgement call.

Yeah my Ford Dealership around me told me $83 as well. I just ordered it online for like $60 + free shipping. But it WAS folded, but it wasn't a problem to install. I just used my own screws and drilled it in.

Dont use metal screws. The plastic clips hold it just fine and would allow it to break off if you really nailed something. I would rather rip the chin spoiler off if I hit something than have it take the bumper cover with it.

after about a year of wondering i finally ordered one! It just looks right on there. Does it come with mounting clips? I was thinking i'd rivet mine in but you make a good point about letting it be able to break away. Now that my car is lowered thats definately a concern.

Mine came with 3 mounting clips I believe. There is 17 holes though. You can get the clips at any hardware store. Just bring one in to match the size.
