classic mustang setup questions....

anybody have any good tips or setups for a 68 fasback when it comes to the strip? i race mine every once and a while however it spins baddly out the lights......realy realy bad
best 1/4 so far is a 14.29 at 99mph
the car has a gt-40 crate motor with the e-303 cam with a weind intake and carter 600, got 215-65-r15 bfgoodrich radial ta's front and back and those cheep lakewood universal traction bars(came on the car when i bought it), 4 speed manual...
somebody told me that the air shocks needed to go and get 5 leaf leafsprings (the ones mustangs plus sell) and regular shocks
i am sure the rearend gears probly need to go up to 3.73 or higher, i believe they are like 3.55's now or something close according to most gear calculators
any input would be great! thanks in advance......davo

Best bet, get some sticky tires, drag radials or ET streets.... Get another set of rims for the sticky tires.
The air shocks are not helping the spinning. Try slipping the clutch, which keeps the rpm's up in the power band and not spin the tires. It is easier to modulate the clutch than it is the tires.

On my old 68, I first had "Slapper" style traction bars, they worked pretty good, as the tended to lift the entire car. Then I converted to 'Under-rides", the car hooked up very hard, just lifting the nose.

As the previous posts said...those 215 series tires are NOT helping. I dont know how much you are willing to spend. The cheapest route would be some traction bars, and sticky tires. Or...you can get some adjustable rancho 2000 rear shocks, 4.5 leaf leaf springs, sticky tires, and some caltrac traction bars. I guarantee with those mods you will be running a low low 13. Your gears look fine for your setup.
