Clutch Adjustment Issues

i have a 97 gt and for some reason my clutch randomly adjust itself. Normally it grabs real close to the floor, but randomly it'll adjust itself and grab high. Any reason why this would happen?

i had a similar problem. the stock adjuster was worn out and was slipping and grabing. ordered a double hook and a firewall adjuster and it solved my problem. hope that helped out. http://www.americanmuscle.com/stficaad.html http://www.americanmuscle.com/stdohoqu.html . those are the ones i chose and haven't had a problem out of them.

If you replace the stock adjuster with an aftermarket quadrent make sure you get a firewall adjuster so you can still adjust your clutch linkage.

The other option is to replace it with another stock unit. They do wear out.

aftermarkets the only way to go IMHO. a locking firewall adjuster is best, ive used the MM firewall adjuster and it has a tendency to turn by itself. to set it you want to take the slack out then back it off so a penny could fit between the cable and firewall adjuster.
