What does a clutch quadrant actually do for the car?

Well it depends on what you mean, the original quad is plastic and is used to connect the clutch cable from the tranny to the insidefirewall under the dash. They say that the crappy plastic ones can flex over time and cause improper clutch use.Now Steeda makes an aluminum or billit...whatever it is that is supposed to remedy this problem and keep proper clutch engagement/disengagment because it will not flex.I had put one in my GT and it may just be me but it seemed as if the pedal was smoother. And they look nice too but its under the dash and no one will ever see it so that doent really matter.

The quadrant along with a latch and spring link the clutch pedal to the clutch cable and form the self adjuster.

I think I might have to do this mod as I am about to bring my car to the dealer for a new clutch. I dont want it messing up earlier than it has to

The clutch cable attaches to the quadrant and the quadrant is attached to the clutch pedal. Depending on the type of quadrant you can further adjust the release of the clutch on the hook (triple hook).

If you are replacing the clutch, its a must that you get a quadrant, cable and fire wall adjust and can't stress this more.

Get a triple hook quadrant and a firewall adjuster. I have UPR's and they have worked really well.

Yup...Mine engages about 1/2 way down...my personal preference but at one point it was 1/4. Lots of room for your personal taste.
