im in the process of doing a auto to manual swap in my 96 gt that has a motor from a 2001 gt.

the transmission is a t-3650 from supposedly a 2004 gt,at least thats what I was told when I bought it.the flywheel is from the 2001 motor,so my question is should I ask for a clutch set for a 2004 gt or would any set for 2001-2004 fit?

well I may have just found the answer to my question, its looking like any clutch kit for mid 2001 to 2004 will fit.I guess the splines are different on the early 2001(t-45 equipped) transmissions.I guess the only thing I have to figure out is if the flywheel will work.

You will need a clutch that matches the flywheel AND the number of transmission input splines. The stock 2001-2004 came with an 11" clutch.

I am not positive about the number of input splines as I believe it changed. Can you verify the number of transmission input splines?

The 2004 transmission has an OSS speed sensor. I'm assuming that you are planing on getting an extended range Speedcal to make the speedometer work. You should verify the year range that the Speedcal supports. Remember that in 2004, Ford changed the number of OSS reluctor wheel teeth.

Thanks for the info everett.

Mr Burns, the listing for the S/C unit at dallas mustangs is from 96-2004,so I guess the reluctor is compatable.

i know there is a swap for the tail shafts in the t45's for mechanical to electric speedos. im pretty sure the t45 and 3650 ar both 10 splined. not 100% though.
