I see that a lot of people with GTs have the Cobra intake manifold, I already have a Cobra so would it be worth it to upgrade or is the Cobra intake good enough? I know other aftermarket ones have better numbers, but i am new to this so I am curious how much better the other ones are.

At the stage you're at, the Cobra manifold is plenty. When it comes time to do a heads and cam swap, you could just have the manifold ported and matched to a 1250 gasket.

That would be the smart and cost effective way.

Not trying to steal your thread here TrevorB123 but I gots a quick question. What's the difference in the GT and Cobra intakes and to do the swap does it require the lower intake be changed out as well? OK guess that was two questions then. Sorry yo

Talk to STUNNER6910 ... he just did his Stang with the Cobra! He can tell you if it's worth doing. I had GREAT luck with the Explorer intake upper and lower. I ported mine like crazy and am very pleased -still!

yes you have to take off the lower the stock lowers are inline ports not staggerd ports like the cobras. The cobra out flow the stock crap by alot.
This is a stock lower noticed the inline ports.

You have pics. You are the man! So does the throttle body still match up or is the plenum on the Cobra larger in diameter?

Is the Explorer any better than the Cobra intake?

I'm being such a thread hog I'm sorry but this is good info that I'm sure
TrevorB123 and others could use in there quest to make a choice on a stock engine intake.

So are you saying that I could get a 70mm tb and it would match up with my cobra intake?

They will be a perfect match. But a 70mm maybe to much for what you have a 65mm will do just fine.
