Last made in 2003...so you'd have to find a company that has had one collecting dust for a while.

The lower intake in the kit is an 1998+ Explorer intake. Has an F8 part number near the dizzy hole, so they are common and cheap. Can prob pick one up at junkyard for $50 or less.

Then either use the explorer upper, or scour for a used Cobra upper.

That's the china intake. You can tell because it says Ford Racing on the EGR neck. That is only on the copied intakes.

The irony is if you look below to where they say "we use what we sell" they show a pic of a non-CHINA Cobra intake...as it doesn't say FR on the EGR neck.

I really don't know what the hate-on is with the newer Chinese made Cobra intakes? Are they not cast in the same moulds, using the same materials to the same quality control specs as the original?

No. They are cheaply cast Chinese knock-offs that have a built-in oil consumption problem.

I beleive the issue is in the lower intake with the chinese intsakes. The baffles aren't as good as the original. It's why i suggested picking up an F8 Explorer lower, which is the same lower intake that came in my Ford Racing kit bought in 2001.

Unsure of the quality of the upper intake though

Search around and you'll see the probs with the china-made intakes

If you use the Cobra Chinese made intake just call Ford Racing and they'll send you a larger baffle free of charge. That will control any oil consumption issues.

wasn't there talk about the dizzy cut-out on the chinese lower intake doesn't clear has good. I know the originals had plenty of room but the cheap knock left too much material and people had to clean it up. It's been awhile since I have read anything on these so I have forgotten.

there is less space for adjusting base timing due to TFI interferance with the T-stat housing on the newer units. Might require you to re-stab one tooth.

Ahh that's what is was. I thought there was something related to the dizzy with the new intake but couldn't remember.

It actually requires that you rotate the distributor almost 90 degrees and when you do that, the left fuel rail then interferes with the lower cover of the distributor.

It is a very poorly designed Chinese knock-off of the original.

Like i said before, my FORD Cobra intake kit i bought in 2001 came with a lower intake with an F8 part number (1998+ Explorer). The IAC was tapped so that may be a slight difference.

Upper had an F3 part number
