Going with the 2 1/2 COBRA R from HOfibertrends.

I have the option of getting the cowl cut out or leaving filled.

Besides the obvious are there any pros on cons to getting it cut or leaving filled?

I was considering getting it cut out.

Thanks

if you get it cut

pros: heat extraction
looks killer

cons: rain, dirt, and all other kinds of debris getting into your engine bay

not getting it cut:
pros: dont have to worry about the above mentioned rain etc.
cons: doesnt look quite as good, but still very nice

i have the 2.5" 95R hood. I got it from ford and it came with the left(driver) side of the cowl cut out about 8" long by 2" high. It really sucks in alot of air.If I start the car up and leaves are on the cowl it will suck them in...so i just brush them off before i get in. This hood helps alot with underhood heat. No water at all gets in at that location. Its not like the 00R hood with cutouts that are directly over the engine. A screen could be easily glued to the inside to prevent leaves from getting in. I will do it someday.

Just need to chime in here to all who may also be considering a new hood... I am looking to buy a used stock 2001+ GT/Cobra hood. The stock hood on the 2000 is lame imo. I loved the hood on my bullitt...

They said they could cut both sides or one. apparently the original Cobra R only had 1 side cut out Driver side due to the Heater intake or someting.

Got any pics you can post up of cowl cut ou??

Thanks
