Ok. The Mustang started sputtering at low speed in cold weather in the last few days. It feels like it's missing. However like I said it runs fine once it warms up and runs strong. It threw a CEL today and I ran the codes, here's what I found.

542 - Fuel Pump circuit open connection - Electronic Control Assembly to ground.
543 - Fuel Pump circuit open connection - Electronic Control Assembly to battery.
176 - Lean on bank #2
211 - Profile Ignition Pick-Up sensor - circuit failure (this code may be old as my PIP went out about 2 years ago and I replaced the distro with a MSD unit and never cleared the code)
556 - Fuel Pump Relay circuit failure.

Now.. I spoke to a friend about it and we figured that it may be the CCRM. But I figured I'd post to get a few opinions.

Thanks.

It is possible the PIP is taking a poopey again. When it cuts out, it can generate a FP code.

For diagnostics, what I like to do is hose down inside the dizzy bowl with electrical contact cleaner. This can clean up the edges of the windows. If the pissy cold weather driving abates for a little bit, that can be a tell. This is highly unlikely to be a fix, but it takes 20 seconds to do.

I agree about your FP relay (inside the CCRM) being suspect, given all the codes. However, it might not be related to the missing issue (that issue is consistant with an engine management issue/sensory input rather than a relay IMHO). As soon as you warm up, you run strong. Relays tend to be more random.

I'd clear the codes and drive it until it burps on you; then pull codes again. Also if it happens to be missing while you do KOER codes, run a cylinder balance test to see if the miss is random of relegated to one cylinder. I'd also want to ohm out the ECT to see if it's calibrated.

Others will have different experiences and suggestions.

Good luck.

Ok. Went out today and checked all electrical connections to CCRM, ECU, and various other things on the front of the car.
Cleared all codes.
I ran the KOER test while the engine was cold and came up with only one code.

The 543 - Fuel Pump circuit open connection - Electronic Control Assy. to battery.

I also did a Power Balance that came out fine.

I did NOT drive the car down the road.

Any suggestions? Or new opinions?

Anybody know if he ever figured out what was throwing the code 543?

Thanks,
JD
