Is there anyway to tell wether you have standard front coil springs or heavy duty front coil springs?

A little back story is in order.
Dad had the rear leaf springs replaced and helpers installed about 18 years ago to beef things up to tow a boat and trailer. He doesn't remember if the front springs where replaced with heavy duty ones or not.

Boat is gone and I removed the trailer hitch (pretty heavy on its own).

The rear end sags noticeable and its somewhat bouncy. The front sits high and rides stiff. Virtually no bounce to speak of.

Also, if I put more than a half a tank of gas in the car, there is a fair amount of bump steer. If a quarter tank or less then its an ok ride.

Could this be because of well worn rear springs? Could worn rear springs and heavy duty front springs cause odd handling?

If your car has the 1" drop 620 springs in it you can tell by jacking up the car by the cross member so both wheels are in the air. When i do this my coils are loose between the perch and the tower. My old springs were in there tight and needed a spring compressor to remove them. It is important to jack up the car so both wheels are in the air, or the sway bar will keep the one wheel from dropping very far.

Of course if they are not the common 1" drop 620 springs, I have no clue. You could probably just measure the diamete of the spring wire and compare it to a stock spring.
