Hey guys I need a colder plug for my car. Currently I run autolite 45's, they are 289 heads. Let me know what a colder plug is and a part number would be great! I'm only looking for one or two heat ranges, I want to run my 100 shot and not detonate. Thanks
Take a ride down to your local parts store and look at the first few pages of their spark plug book (for whichever brand you prefer). It'll break down the number codes for you and tell you exactly which digit indicates heat range. Piece of cake.
or hit the classic sub forum - i bet the 289 guys know what plug is one range colder (I'm with Daggar, but i dont have the luck he does at the parts stores. ).

I had a feeling that was the system, as many plug manufacturers use that nomenclature. i would add that this is not always true - i have come across a plug manufacturer or two who does not use the 'minus a number is one range colder' technique.
i just wanted to toss that out so someone does not think this is the rule with all manufacturers.
