Color Change:Bright red?Vibrant red?

I have decided to do a paint color change to a lighter/brighter red color.My vert is currently a two tone Medium cabernet red/titanium lower,black top.I am considering what Ford called Bright Red or possibly Vibrant Red.Is it my imagination or did Bright Red become darker/less bright in later years after it was introduced in '89?I think the after market calls it Vermillion,same EP paint code.I am undecided about the Vibrant Red;it seems pretty orangy in direct sun.Manzanoff has a nice Vibrant red vert but it seems most of the photos I have seen are taken in the shade or on a cloudy day.I haven't seen either color in my small city.Any guidance you can give me on these colors?

You got my name just a bit wrong

The color can be orangey from the right angles, but it's not as bad in person as most pictures make it seem.

Leave it the same color! There's nothing wrong with medium cabernet red.

I don't think there is anything wrong with medium cabernet red either and it works well on your car.My project started with just considering repainting the titanium bottom which had ugly yellow showing through plus repairing a damaged rear bumper from an accident. I eventually concluded I should repaint the entire car and change to a Cobra bumper.I've never really cared for the two tone look but when I bought the car 2 years ago the body was in great condition which is hard to find in my part of Canada.As far as staying with the original upper color,I just decided to get the color I really wanted.I am old enough to realize taking a shortcut and not doing what you want the first time leads to regret later.I've always loved the look of the bright red and vibrant red on verts.

If your not dead set on a factory color, HOK's "Blue Blood" is by far the best red on the market. It is the brightest red available without orange tint. Most of your brighter reds are light and bright because of the orange in them.

I like the medium Cabernet over the vibrant red even though my own car resembles the vibrant red more. Isn't that always the case???

Bright Red

I painted some of the car myself, Ford EP red goes on almost purple/bright violet pink, after a few coats it gets a deeper red color. In comparison with Ford Red it has no orange look to it.

FWIW, I would have gone with a deeper red too if I didn't want to stay with the original color. "Blue Blood" sounds cool, as does any red color with "blood" in the name. Blood Red would rule, I think.

Sorry Mansonozz for trying to make you a Ruskie.I think I see now where you derived your name from so I'll remember next time.Interesting how the guys with medium cabernet seem to showcase their cars in the sun to get whatever red is there to show through because it is so dark.The guys with the orange tints seem to have more pictures of their cars in the shade to minimize the orange.

Vermillion red is a personal favorite..but a high maintenace color..you will need to keep wax on it or the paint will show it's age very quickly.

It appears Vermillion red and Bright Red are different Ford names for the same paint color?Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they are both code EP (E4 for Vermillion clear coat I think).What makes it more high maintenance?

No harm done. It was just kinda funny.

Someone pointed out already that Bright Red, Vibrant Red and Vermillion are the same. Ford named EP code 'bright red', the aftermarket calls it Vermillion, which I know is true...but I'm not 100% sure that Vibrant Red is the same thing but I do know it looks damn near identical.
