any know if there is a program Option to keep the white lights as an option when the lights are on? There must be a way that the gauge lights can stay white all the time instead of turning green???
There is a way to change the bulbs but that requires ALOT or de-soldering and re-soldering. IMO not worth it .. But im with you on that one 08Blue, There has to be a wire or something some were that tells the dash the lights are on and to switch to green, If we could find that "wire" in therory you could disable the green all together and keep with the white back lit option !
I run a light blue on my gauges. As for the green backlit radio buttons... You won't get white backlighting just by disconnecting a wire. The buttons aren't "lit" when the lights are off. Imagine what your car looks like off and parked in the dark - that's what it would look like if you could and did disconnect the wire. You'd need to change bulbs.
where can i find a my color upgrade? I found a thread on another forum, I found a site that says i can order a mycolor gauge for 2005 but would it work on a 2008?
I know it will on a 2005, the wiring was already there. Someone else will have to speak to the 2008.
It is much cheaper all the way around to order the car with it.
There is everything that you could want to know about upgrading to a MyColor guage cluster. It is a very simple upgrade, but it does require that a dealership program the cluster. (Some people have bought used clusters, and they may work, but they may not) There are also places that service clusters that will set the milage for you if you do go with a used cluster. Lots of info to read through, but it can be done, its not super expensive, and its very easy. i have read up and it seems easy and it only cost about $300 for everything, but i am curious if it is available for 2008, I know i could do it for an 05.
The big question is whether or not the wiring is already there. It is for the 2005 without question. But I think I read somewhere that Ford stopped putting it in cars without the stock IUP.

I put mycolor in my 08 GT when I first bought it. There should be a oval cover thats above your radio and to the left. Thats where there should be your mycolor buttons, pop it off with a flat head screw driver and if there is a wire hooked onto the back then your car is wired for mycolor.

Yes, you need to install the buttons AND the mycolor guage cluster.
You can install the buttons ahead of time, but the cluster will need to be installed after it is programmed by the dealer.
Its very easy to do though. Removing/reinstalling the cluster is like a 5 minute job. Its not like the old clusters where you had to screw with the speedo cable that was 2" too short.
