Both me and my brother have 95 gt's. His car is mostly stock, and i have a few mods, and a superchip.

Now, we both have this same problem, and have had it since we've owned our cars.

When i start my car and dont allow it to run for a while to warm up, and just drive away it runs horrible....i mean bad, it misfires, backfires, sounds like it running on 4 cyls and it detonates badly. My brother's car seems to just have power loss...but his engine is mostly stock(intake).

Now, if i let the car warm up till it hits closed loop, OR i shut the car off and restart it again after i drive, the problem is Gone, and it runs GREAT....like it should.....Mind you, my car also did this when it was stock, but to MUCH less degree.

Now, is this normal? Does anyone's car do this? how can i fix it, and can i tweak some settings in my superchip to fix? It has to be a sensor or ecu problem.

thanks....this has been bothering me for a while...like 4 years.

hmm that is interesting. My car has never really done anything like that. my check your ECT sensor if its giving bad readings that could mess things up.

Mine does the same thing. I just don't worry about it cause like you said, if you let it warm up a little then it's fine. But I'd also be interested in knowing what's causing it.

Well Kyle

Not sure what to think about that

My 95 has not done it when stock, or when I had the ported E7 combo or now with my current combo.

When cold, the pcm uses a fuel multiplier table that is based upon ect and time.

Seems like that would not have a lot to do with what is going on since you both have had the issue when stock.

Perhaps you have discoed something like emissions or something along those lines that has caused the cold start up prob.

Good point grady.

I HAVE disconnected my entire thermactor system, and my egr is blocked half way in.

However, i am not getting any codes.

That, and i think we both have cheap autozone ECT sensors....i was actually thinking this may be the problem. Where can i find a good quality sensor....but damn i hate going to ford, probably costs $300.

Mine did the same thing, terribly, stock. When it was cold it would make almost a backfire sound from the intake like back in the day when a car would pop at the carburetor. As soon as the car was up to operating temp though it would run fine. Now it just idles erratically cold, long enough to get the oil moving.
