Cancel 2010 Mustang; receive loan

In the midst of the super-charged atmosphere in Congress as its members consider additional aid for the auto industry, it is ironic that Ford Motor Company is previewing its retooled 2010 Mustang. The ad brags about its potential for speed, more horsepower, and racier design. There was no mention of fuel efficiency, alternative fuels, decreased pollution, or safety issues.
This car has obviously been planned for several years, but its introduction shows how the auto industry has failed to face the reality of oil supply, economics, and its competition.
I don't want the Big Three to fail and cause three million plus workers to lose their jobs. However, I do feel that the top management is to blame and that they should, somehow, pay the price for their short-sighted, "Make my bonus bigger this quarter, forget five years down the road," attitude.
I wish there were some way to protect the workers and pensioners while we re-think the United States auto industry. Ford, for one, doesn't seem to have learned its lesson. Maybe the cancellation of the 2010 Mustang should be the first requirement for any government loan.

What does that have to do with a damn thing? This was an editorial. This wasn't congress saying that. Not to mention the fact that those that were voted for this month have not taken office yet, with the exception of ones that were re-elected. I mean seriously isnt there any journalistic integrity anymore? The mustang is actually quite efficient for V8. All of my mustangs have gotten better mileage than my wifes V6 G6 and almost as good as my 4 banger Mazda6, well at least until the blower and 4.10 gears that is.
