Convertible top made of what?

What is the convertible top made of on a 2001 mustang? Is it fabric, vinyl or maby convas? I have no idea, pleas let me know...

2-layer Vinyl.

The Cobras, and the 40th Anniversary Editions, got 3-layer canvas.

My vinyl is taking a crap. I have an 00. It will need a new top come next summer. *sigh* I'll be looking into a canvas top for my 00 GT. I think people said expect to pay roughly a grand with labor. OUCH!

Anyone know the benefits of canvas over vinyl? Canvas looks and feels sexy as hell.

Canvas is awesome...looks, ease of cleaning and it supposeadly will last 10 times longer. I made the switch a couple of weeks ago. bEST INVESTMENT i MADE IN A LONG WHILE.

I got a step by step how to install a convertible top on CD. The best thing to do is get E Z On Top. No sewing just hook it on the the string.

my new top is canvas also....cost alittle more but it is suppsed to last longer? we shall see. anything was better then what i had.

My '98 came with Canvas. (But I got ALL the extras on my car). The only thing bad about it is that it is white. I'd like to change it out to a black top but the damn thing is holding up so well that it seems like it's never going to wear out.

Canvas is definitely best. Mine has no signs of wear at all and I put the thing up and down at least a couple times a day. And it was in Vegas for 6 years and it laughed at the heat...

I had to replace my convertible top earlier this year. One shop quoted $1100 for canvas - if I did both pieces at the same time. But, I went with a guy who only charged $900 (both pieces)installed even though he put a vinyl top on it.

1100, thats what mine was replacing everything...went from tan to black. then they hit me for another 1700 for new leather(2 tone black/tan) and carpets.

i'll post some up this weekend, i'm gonna detail everthing up and hopefully my wing is in by then....didn't want to shoot pics with no wing eventhough its starting to grow on me.

my interior was/is tan....2 tone dash. Top of dash is black, bottom is tan so i had black inserts put into the new leather seats. My car is dark green, and with the black top, black rims the black interior inserts look great.
