Hey guys, I got a couple quick questions. I ordered a Summit Racing exhaust for my 73, and went to put it on tonight. The flange on the new exhaust is gigantic, over 4 inches. Compared to the stock headers, it literally goes over the header, in no way shape or form is this exhaust going to work with the stock headers. So I called Summit, and got a set of their headers for 86 bucks. My question is how loud is the car going to be with exhaust and headers? I really dont want soemthign thats going to be so loud you need earplugs. Also, wont this reduce my backpressure to nothing, decreasing my HP?

Another question not related to exhaust. On the plastic dash peices, mine have lost all of their original black color and now appear gray. Do they make a dye that will work? Or should I respray them black with spraypaint and hope for the best? Thanks guys, I appreicate the help, great site

You'll actually gain HP with that set up. It's torque you will lose as there will be reduced back pressure.

it will be a little louder, but its not going to be a Top Fuel dragster sound.

You can spray your pieces with a vynil/plastic dye from your local parts store.

Will the loss of torque be noticible?

Mustang supply places sell the proper dye and a product called Vinyl Prep that is basically a primer to help the paint stick better. CJ Pony parts sell it.
