good to go...they're a wholesaler though...i'll have to find someone else (unless - accoording to them - i can find someone with an account with them who will okay me buying from them.)

You can still buy from them. I just pay cash and they charge me tax. No need for an account or large orders.

That's not what they told me. :-/

Either way...is closed cell foam the same as siding insulation? I'm trying to get an idea of the texture of it.

btw, where do you buy the billet mustang locks? I have a friend who is a machinist and he has a lathe and such so if i can't drill them and such he prolly can.

Hey Skywalker - There is place here in Tejas that sells the Closed cell foam, custom headliners, seats, door panels, etc... I'll get the info when I go home tonight and post up tommorow

I forget the name of the manufacturer. It was one of those do it yourself kits. I will look at my receipts later when I'm home and post the name and the pics of the billet lights for you

You don't know the half of it. I know we talked about the console before and I told you I was probably going with fiberboad, but that didn't look like I wanted, so I scrapped it. I am now trying a WAAAAAAAAAAAY out there method. I think it'll work really nicely.

Some very nice rides. Although I would love to do something like the Maroon ride......It is simply not in my budget or frankly where I boot up in my daily driver...I got kids, trips to the stire, etc. and wouls forever be terrified of having custom car oops. That said it is really cool, I applaud those that go to this length and devotion....

I did however do some custom work but in-line with the early 60's them of the car.

Custom Dash
Custom Console
custom trunk
Custom Tunes, etc.

Here's a couple pics. I'm actually very much in the middle of putting it back together as we speak.

Yuck, thats 64 maroon mustang looks like the owner has been watching fast n furious alittle too much.

And why did he use Tweed on the entire interior? Tweed was a cr@ppy material they used on 80-90 generation pickup trucks, it was terrible then, and still is now. It's really ruff too, and if your wearing a thin shirt, it can itch the heck outta ya.

But I will say it has one thing going for it, those custom design kickpannels with the dual speakers are really nice. I think someone else already commented on that, but thats about the only thing I like about that car. I would like to copy those kickpannels myself.

And whats the deal with plasma screens? Like drivers need any more distractions while they are driveing? Now a cell phone isn't enough? You gotta try and talk on the phone, drive, and watch your Fast m Furious DVD all at the same time? Sorry but if I'm gonna watch a DVD, it's gonna be on a big screen in my liveing room, on a nice couch with dolby digital surround sound, not on a tiney 10 inch display in my car with non reclineing seats.

demonic: i agree that the maroon car looks silly, however tweed was used LONG before those trucks - it can be used for good use in a car if done properly and tastefully.

steelhorse: thanks, go ahead and get that for me, but I plant o do my interior this weekend, so I need to try and find a local place if I can.

I seem to remember Tweed being everywhere in those generation trucks, and I personally hate it. I'll take leather or vinyl or comfortweave over tweed.

Personally I like leather and vinyl...i think tweed makes a horrible seatcover (this is just me) but it can be used tastefully...

Tweed was one of the original upholstery fabrics. My grandfather had a thing for plymouths, and we have a '29 plymouth he began restoring before his alzheimer's got bad. He used tweed on the seats becuase he said he had one just like it as a teen and that's what it had on it.

The name of the kit company is Vellemen. When I was looking for it you couldn't buy them from distributors in the US. I bought mine online from a place in Canada.

Thanks GP I may look into those, although probably not all the pieces.

Skywalker - the company is called roddoors (www.roddoors.com) i have seen a few cars they have done and seen them at the shows locally. the product looks good and you can buy any portion of the material you want ie: uncoved door panels, foam, leather etc...

Demonic - Tweed can be cool if done right but I prefer leather too. Also the screen in the maroon car could be a touch screen to control radio, cd changer, Ac/heat etc.... I know it may be kinda ghetto but the touch screens are cool IMO

I love leather seats...however leather is a) hard to get ahold of w/o ordering it and b) not as cheap as vinyl since I'm doing DIY seat covers...cinyl was the way to go. it is a very soft vinyl though.

Yeah, the thing is I want a classic look with modern feel. I've been looking at the Scat ProCar Rally seats, new gauges and those humphugger cruiser consoles look kinda cool, but I have the stock console. I'll have to wait and see.

We ended up covering the doors around the panels in leather, the kickpanels as well, and the interior quarter panels too...
