I just got around to seeing how the coilover kit would fit around the shocks and to my shock the wouldn't fit, there is a ring around the top that holds the clamp so the shock doestn't open, here is a pic because I can't explain it obviously

Once I take off the clamp the "ring" stays on the shock like so

And the added circumferance of it does not allow the coilover kit to slide in as demonstrated

I'm stumped, I was thinking of prying off the "ring" but felt that that was unsafe, and as of right now I'm thinking of grinding some of it down.

Does anyone else know what has to be done in order to fit the coilover kit on the lakewood shock.

any help is appreciated,

thanks

Wait a minute....I remember. You have to carefully drill out the rivets on top and then the ring will come right off. It's been a while. I think that there are 3 of them.

Thanks dude, that sounds resonable, I just hope I don't go to deep, and yes there are three rivets.

Forget the drill, I just turned the strut upside down and used a punch to knock that ring off. Came off real easy.
