I think Im on your blocked list , but if not, just letting ya know Ill say a prayer. My brothers Hodgekins came back once , also . He walked the walk, and hes still here to talk . Im sure the same will be said for you. Modern medicine is getting lymphomas pretty well beaten if you are relatively healthy otherwise. Good thing catching it in the scan, nail it before it metastasizes . A friend at work named "Ivan " (100 % American , through and through ) was diagnosed with the exact type you have 2 years ago. He got real pale, lost a ton of weight, had no energy, you know the deal. The doctor suspected it right off, sent him to an oncologist. Scans showed Stage 5 (?) non Hodgekins which was in his back, chest, spine, lower leg (left) and one shoulder. Ivan took the whopper chemos , 8 hours a day, and now hes good as new. A real testament to prayer and modern medicine. If you would like to speak with him, pm me , Ill put you in contact. His diagnosis didnt suprise us, but the degree of metastazation (spreading)blew us away. We had heard the type was very treatable, but when it was in so many places, unless you were pretty healthy otherwise ( lymphomas can spin off AIDS and other blood related disorders) it would be a tough customer. Like I said though, hes good as new, let me know if youd like to speak with him. Hearing from someone who had what you have but in so many places may be an inspiration.

Some clarification.....:
Cancers are staged I thru IV (one thru four), IV's being the worst.
When I was first diagnosed five years ago I was Stage IV. I had lymphoma in both my abdomen and chest, with multiple nodal and organ involvement, including the sack around the heart and lungs. At the time, the doctors told my family that I was going to die. I have been through multiple chemo regimens, radiation therapy and treatment with MAb's, we were planning on an allogeneic stem cell transplant four years ago, but at the time I had severe pneumonia/radiation pneumonitis and would not have survived. We are now discussing the possibility of an autologeous stem cell transplant.

Hop - I appreciate your offer to put me in touch with your friend Ivan, however all he could really do is commiserate with me about how bad treatment sucks, and I'm getting enough of that locally......


Again, I would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers. I really do appreciate it. As my treatments progress I am going to feel ALOT worse, and I may not be around SN as much, but there are several of our Closet Crew who I am in e-mail contact with, and will continue to e-mail them updates......................

Roger that 65 . I suppose your right then about talking with Ivan. Didnt realize you had it all over like he did. I think he had it on his paricardium too (heart sac) .I read once that you actually cant get cancer of the heart itself, you ever heard that ? Anyway, I take back everything nasty I ever said to ya. I dont need to be on some some tough ol bastards crap list .Thats what I consider guys like Ivan and my brother who beat it down a couple times, as Im sure you will too. Ya see it first hand and you get a new respect for the fighter .. Dont look forward to seeing a thread called "I beat cancer then pimp slapped Hoppy at the Mustang show". Yeah thatd suck.

Another Update:

I just got home from my first round of chemo...so far so good, I guess. I feel pretty , but that's to be expected!
Hope evreyone in SN-land is well, I'm thinkin' about y'all!

Not too late! This is going to be an ongoing battle.......
I just had the first round (of at least six) of chemo last week, Aug 5th is round two.......and as a "Declaration of War" and premptive strike to losing my hair, I shaved my head last night...............

Actually got something done on the Mustang today!
A buddy of mine stopped by for a visit, and while he was here we managed to get the rest of the steering out of the car!

Ya, it only took five minutes, and almost "0" effort, but the way things have been going I consider it a great accomplishment!

Sorry to hear that man. My Girls mom is battleing brain cancer right now. Shes fought a long hard fight. But unfortunately shes losing. Ive seen a few family members beat it though. Dont lose your faith. And give it all you got.

Keep it up my friend! As you know, my Mom was battling small cell cancer herself. Unfortunately, she lost the battle on Tuesday and passed away. We never gave up hope, but it was just so fast spreading that her body could not keep up with it.

It is people like you who made it easy to keep faith that she would be ok. Thank you for sharing your experiences with the rest of us. It reminds us all that no matter how diverse the situation, the human will to survive can overcome it.

Keep up the good fight!
