Ok so I am just curious what everyone recommends. I am looking at either of these two kits and wondering what the differences are and what you would go with.

http://www.discbrakeswap.com/swap.2.html

http://www.discbrakeswap.com/swap.3.html

One kit is based off of a mustang spindle and one is from the granada spindle. Both cost the same amount so I'm just curious what everyone recommends.

I have a 1966 Coupe.

he also has one that has the correct style calipers and stuff for the 65-66 cars too. any of them will work just fine but the fixed 4 piston calipers might stop just a little bit better than the floating calipers of the 2 kits you posted but not by much

yea, as of right now I was leaning a bit towards the granada swap but I wasn't sure if there was a huge difference.

the granada spindle is a bad idea for the 65-66, as it will make a mess of your steering geometry. ive got granada spindles on my 65, but i hung on to the stock parts, so when the budget allows i can install a good set of discs onto them.

If you read the website though they say they have corrected the spindles to reduce bumpsteer etc. Ill have to call them and see whats up. It sounds like either way im alright though so ill have to see.

^^That's interesting, I'd never heard that before and I'll keep it in mind. I did the Disc Brake Swap Granada job on my 67 and have never hesitated to recomend it because I am happy with the results and the value. But, I'll add this piece of info.

they use custom spindles for their kits and claim to have fixed all issues regarding the bump steer etc.

Golf,
My claim is that my 65-66 spec Granada spindle has identical steering and suspension geometry as the original 65-66 drum spindle. Original Granada spindles have steering geometry that is the same as 67-73 Mustang. I manufacture both types despite the fact that the difference is small and that I belief the "bumpsteer" issue is overstated.

The SWAP.3 kit will fit any 65-73 Mustang, but is original to 68-73 (really 70-73, but the 68-69 system is nearly identical). The SWAP.2 is the Granada based kit and fit all early Mustang. It is a good general system with know performance and reliability. The SWAP.1 kit is original for 65-67, but will also fit all 65-73 Mustang. It has the advantage of 4 piston calipers and an easy install onto your V8 drum spindles. It doesn't require a realignment since the tie rods are not touched. It has the disadvantage of not including the new heavy built spindles or outer tie rods, and requires more caliper maintenance. Thanks for your consideration.

so degins what do you recommend? I am switching over to a complete new setup from a 6 cylinder car. Im using complete new suspension and a randall's rack and pinion. So I need the spindle to be included. What kit should I go with from you guys?

If you need spindles, The SWAP.2 is probably the way to go. If the rack comes with unique outer tie rods, make sure you specify that they will fit "Granada" spindles. If they use standard Mustang outer tie rods, there is no problem.

as a matter of fact, i did use the granada outer tie rod ends...the outer tie rod ends have absolutely nothing to do with the bumpsteer issues present in the 65-66 granada swap. the problem is the arm on the spindle which locates the tie rod in a different plane than the factory spindle, causing the bump steer. this is not an issue with the 67 and newer mustang, maverick, and comet, which uses the same spindle as the granada. as for not reading the whole product discription, guilty as charged...

Degins, youre saying that your spindles for 64-66 cars with Granada brakes have the revised steering arm? Do you sell just the bare spindles? Id love to use them with the Mustangsteve 08gt brakes like 88gt did.

88gt- hows it stop? I bet it could put your face thru the windshield! Id love to use the Mustangsteve brackets for the 08gt brakes with CV brakes in back, but moneys too tight for that right now. What master cyl are you using with it and what size wheels? I hear they clear as small as 16".

I do sell the bare knuckles, but they are not compatible with the late model Mustang caliper take offs. Those use drum spindles.

I'd love to answer that stopping question...however, it's still on jack stands.
My kid will have to use a 5 point harness to keep him in the seat I'm sure...

I'm going with 17x8 American Racing Torque Thrust "M" wheels on all 4's..front is going to require a 225/45/17 and rear is a 245/45/17 for me.

I really like the Degins kit, I just chose to super size the fronts. I'll be going with a sn95 gt master cylinder.

Got some pics, just need to resize them to post..
