I have a 97 GT (Automatic) with 4.10s, I know my speedcal is a bit off, but I'm wondering if I need to do anything to my tans to fix my shifts or anything at all that people should do when changing gears that I haven't.

you dont need to do anything. your shifts should be fine. if you want you can get a chip and change your shift points.

I thought for autos if you change gears you need to have your computer recognize it so it knows where to shift, if not you can damage your transmission. I think you need a chip or programmer.

Yeah i reprogrammed mine. 1-2 (-200) 2-3 (-200) 3-4 (+200) [i think] using a hypertech
I was bouncing off the rev limiter

from what i know they dont make a speedcal for autos. Speedcal just adjusts your speedometer. its the shift points you should worry about. try flooring it from a stop up to the one-two shift and see if you hit the limiter (or close).sometimes 4.10s makes your rpm's climb faster than your auto can think thus resulting in the rev limiter hit. so make the computer shift a little earlier so it has time to think (hope that made sense)

hypertech or predator thing. hand held programmers or a custom burned chip

like i said the first time, you're ok. BUT if you want better shift points get a chip (or a tuner)

he's got a 97, not a new one. the tranny shifts should be perfect.
