Its not horrible if nothing is leaking...The smell is the same as the exhaust normally smells, just stronger. I really only notice it when I'm stopped at a light, etc. Its probably worse for anyone who is behind you
Any off-road pipe (without catalytic converters) will have the smell of unburnt fuel in the exhaust. After all, the cats are no longer there to do the job, so guess what, you're going to smell fuel.
Ditto. My o/r h smells terrible.. especially when I come to a stop, or I'm backing up.
I can always tell cars with no cats (as I'm sure state troopers can as well,) by the smell when following them.. just one of those great bonuses you get from doing the o/r swap.
I have an offroad H pipe and I have never noticed any smell... However I have ceramic coated long tubes and I have a hunch the fuel continues to burn in the headers/collectors. Its a hunch and I could be completely wrong...
