Bone stock, the 98-02 CVPIs will run an earth-shattering low 16s in the 1/4 mile.
What kind of mods do you have?
In 2003, Ford re-designed the chassis and went to new wheels, resulting in the use of different center caps (if I recall correctly). Ford is now using 17" steel wheels on the late model P71s. FYI, the 2003-up Panthers can use take-off S197 wheels, and use the same 235/55R17 tire size.
can S197s use panther take off steel wheels? how do they fit? seems as if it would be a cheap spare or winter wheel for S197 owners.
That's a good question that I asked awhile ago and did not receive an answer. I have read about 03-up Panther owners successfully using take-off S197 GT wheels. I'd imagine the 17" steel CVPI wheels would fit the S197s.
The AED kit will make most Panthers run low 14s bone stock, still much slower than stock S197 GTs.
Did you have a shop custom make the exhaust? There aren't any aftermarket kits available for the Crown Vic.
Congrats on the “Big Ford Car” purchase. I’m glad I’m not the only one around here sporting a nearly 4,000lb Luxobarge anymore.
So what are the plans for her.....I know the GTO is going to be your primary Go To car, but have you considered making any “real” power with the Vic? There are a couple of great options out there.
Allen Supechargers, where I bought my blower from makes a great kit for the Vics too. They’re the ones who designed the Kenny Brown “Panther” kit that came out a few years back. Check it out.....

Ooooo the plans Doc. Only need to find the $ and time. I already started with some needed maintenance on the UCA bushings and a few hours working a thousand pounds of sand and debris out of the dual coolers.More sand in the radiator fins than on the beach.
We will then go to shocks/springs/suspension. Preserving the weak 10 bolt is necessary until we can get a new rear diff. So TC is off and I am trying to limit wheel hop. Difficult considering the 340 ftLbTq and a heavy right foot.
Although the 10 bolt is lightweight and therefore practicle for weight distribution and containment, she is prone to failure. So, if all goes well we will bust out a 12 bolt 9" rear with auburn locker and replace the weak 10 bolt.
Better to get the big dog before this happens to the 10 bolt. I am, afterall, less than careful with my vehicles.
