I paid $2000 under sticker from Sunrise Ford in North Hollywood, CA. But then again I NEVER pay sticker.

The Shelby GT has been awesome, for me, and in the end it will retain more value over the long haul versus a normal Stang and I bet even a GT500. (something my wife looks forward to so when I die she can sell it and get some cash)

Fit and finish? From what I have seen it's the same as all S197 Mustangs. And that's all I will say about that.

I've had the car a year and it has been trouble free, don't beleve everything on the net sir. I remember reading all kind of horor stories over at svt performance.com prior to buying my cobra. It does come with a 5yr, 100,000 mile warranty if something does happen.

Read my post again.. Not net rumors , just daily life at the shop... Believe what you want.... I'm looking at the service write ups right now. LOL, not rumors Just lots of customer concerns and $110 per hour labor rates

$110 an hour is ridiculous.

Why would any new car, GT500 or GT require any out-of-pocket money- shouldn't warranty cover everything buy routine maintenance?

LOL..this thread is comedy...throw a CAI, smaller pulley, exaust and a quality dyno tune, and you have 520 + rwhp safely..A rock solid 6 speed tranny and much better brakes than GT's and Shelby GT's..
I cant believe Shelby GT owners are even talking smack..You want over priced, buy a Shelby GT for $11,500 over a GT..lol....The fit and finish from Shelby is a joke..I have an 08 on my showroom floor and the fake hood scoop looks like it was spray painted and the paint near the fake fastners is peeling.I am plenty happy with my 420 rwhp GT and full Steeda suspension and interior and exterior enhancments for less money than a 340 flywheel hp w/ Ford suspension Shelby GT .The GT500 does not suck, a few refinements, and you have a car quicker and faster than a Z06..I cant believe some of the comments ive heard so far on this thread..

+1. the GT500 is very nice. And a pulley'd, exhaust, and tuned GT500 absolutely rapes a pulley'd, exhausted, and tuned 03 Cobra.

Let me know in a few months what your dealer charges your to fix the squeaky brakes, and the shudder in the rear end.
Nothing like a car that has to be parked in reverse or it discharges the battery.. Lets see remote only, battery dead,,,,LOL,
Do you have long legs?? When the driver’s seat control module faults and defaults to all the way forward, good luck sitting in the seat.
Corvettes are nice,,, and they only cost $130K or so (ya need two, as one will be in the shop most of the time.)

NOTE: none of these are internet folklore or guesses,, just daily routine at a Chevy dealership . Ford, and the mustang have their own issues for sure,,,but Chevy has a host of um for real.
Best of luck… I’ll take a new Gt500 (at or near MSRP)

Couldn't help but chuckle.....that's history (dead battery syndrome - long gone). Had an 06 Corvette Z51 ...did have the rear end chatter. Dealership replaced the rearend lube and it was gone - warranty. No brake squeel, but lots of dust. My 08 same Z51 no issues at all. No brake dust either. Oh, you forgot to mention the 20 mpg the Corvettes get (no gas guzzler tax). Neither were ever out of service overnight. In fact, my Roush 14" brakes make a bit more noise than the Corvette. I didn't buy a GT500 because I wasn't about to pay sticker + or even sticker for a model that has 1,000's made. I'll take my "less than sticker" Roush 428R (1 of 200 made). This is not to say the GT500 is junk....far from it. I just won't give the dealership more than MSRP. Now look at the KR model......what a rip (taking orders for sticker + 100%)

the only thing that i am curious of is why the dealers near me have so many Shelby GT's on the lot. If they are limited production and going to retain better value why are there so many? there are 5 ford dealerships in my area. they all had between 5-20 shleby gt's.

They never made that many SGTs per year. That is a little less than they made total. Limited production? Sure. As limited as previous Shelbys or exotic autos? Not at all.

They have so many Shelby GT's because they can't move them. A lot of people wonder why spend the cash on an SGT when you can get a GT for 10k less. Also, 35k is a steep price period. Not many people go to Ford dealers looking to spend that cash, especially not on a car. You can't argue that picking up an SGT requires a lot of thought. If modding is 100% your game, you'd be much better off getting a regular GT. I just wanted to mod a Shelby.

I will agree that alot of exterior mods and suspension mods are done for you already..Like you said, Ive enjoyed upgrading my car here and there, besides the Vortech,39 lbs. injectors, 255 lph fuel pump, Steeda Charge plates, radiator, 4:10's, gauges, and a dyno tune that I did in one shot, I buy and install something new every 2-3 weeks or so..Its almost like the week before Christmas, or Hanukka, all the time ..Its fun to plan your next mod, do research, ask peoples opinions and stuff, thats the part I love...And then the reward is getting what you wanted for a mod, that you did yourself..It sems I always have to have something on the way or in the works for me to reach my happy place...

Great car I just don't like how much it weighs so I'd take a well tuned supercharged GT over a GT500.

+1 on the they're not limited 7,000 is a full half year production...maybe even 3/4. As for why there are so many at once it's due to Shelby's production. They build certain cars at certain times....they built all the GT's for this year and are now into production upgrades to Super Snakes and KR's...when they're done the next run of GT's and so on.

It's not that, it's the fact that Carroll Shelby will sign his name on just about anything if he is given even a small amount of money. The SGT is a GT with a CAI/Tune and some black bullets instead of the regular ones...Sorry if the majority of us don't see that the SGT is worth 35k or so. I mean, even given that the SGT is an SGT, I wouldn't buy it. You can get a GT for 24-25k now with a lot of options. Paying 10k more just to get a name on the car? Just...lol@the logic there.

Is that really any different than buying a Roush, or a Saleen though? Nothing more than glorified GT's with a few bolt on parts a custom hood/spoiler and a fancy paint job in all but the more extreme models? And because one was put out by Jack Roush and the other by Steve Saleen, dealerships expect a huge premium for them. I'm not saying it right or wrong, but I don't see Carrol Shelby doing anything that hasn't been done a dozen times before by other big names in the industry?

I agree if you buy a Roush Stage 1 or 2, but if you get the Stage 3 then no, it's 100% different.

Same with the Saleen. But then again, the Saleen and Roush also have a different body kit on them (spoiler, front clip, and in saleen's case, rear bumper).

Saleen supercharged cars with a tune are making 450rwhp easy and running 11's. Roush's are making 420rwhp or so and running low low 12's or high 11's. And like it was said in a different thread, you can buy a saleen supercharged car for 48k (less than the SGT-C) or a Roush Supercharged Stang for like 48 or so also.

100% different then what...someone going all out and buying a GT500, over a regualar Shelby GT?

So again I ask you, what makes Roush and Saleen offering entry, mid and high end versions of their cars at hefty, more hefty and really hefty premiums over the standard Mustang different than Shelby offering cars like the Shelby GT, the CS6 and/or the Shelby GT500 versions of his?

Roush and Saleen cars offer a little more visual "pop" because that's what they've always been known for...exterior appeal. Shelby's have always been known for their "Classic Appeal", which is why they're a little more basic looking.

But aside from the fine details between the models, I really don't see a difference in their marketing practices.
