My stang is a 89LX. Does anyone know if the stock door handles were crome or black? I ask because I have a crome one on the driver's side and a black one on the passanger side, the passenger's one is not working correctly and I will replace it, but have not decided if I want to go black or crome, and knowing what was stock might chang my mind one way or the other. the other factor is the driver's side is working right, so i really do not want to mess with it, but who knows.....
Also, are all of them held on with rivits? I thought my 84 was held with screws, but that was a whild ago and I could be wrong. I take it I just drill out the old rivits....

they should be black, and yes, they are all held on with rivets from the factory, It's the best way really, I recommend Using the Rivets to put them back on too.

Stock door handles were black. I'm not sure about the rivets.

If your driver's side door has a chrome handle, you've either got a door from an older Mustang (like pre-85) or just the door handle from an older car...

Anyway, you can get new black steel door handles off ebay for fairly cheap so you might want to just look into picking up a pair.
