Hello out there. A newbie to Mustangs despite my 60 years and owning at least 20 70s and 80s cars. Have a 79 pace car. Need a passenger door armrest. I've searched and searched with zero luck. It's obviously the long vinyl wrapped kind that came in a Capri as well. Anyone know of where would be appreciated

I thought the 79 and 80 models had different armrests. Not 100% sure though.

Appreciate your reply, but that isn't it. I see dozens of those for sale. It's more padded, longer and the armrest actually sits on kind of a shelf like an Gbody car does. I believe they were for some 79-81 models only, a Pace Car for sure.

I'm not 100% sure that they're the exact same part, but Mustang IIs had the same style of arm rests. The standard interior had a short one and the deluxe had one that was longer and extended beyond the front seat back - I had one car with a deluxe interior in the 90s, otherwise I probably wouldn't even think about it! But here are a couple pics to illustrate the differences:

Standard:

Deluxe:

But I found a few looking on Ebay. Here's a link to one of the auctions. Maybe these could work?

Thanks for the pics but that's not it. I've looked at some Pace Cars for sale, one that sold Mecum with a lot of pics and it's like mine, A longer armrest, more padded. It shows it pretty clear

Oh, I see now.... Looked up Capri door panels after looking at the pace car on Mecum's site. So yours is like this, correct?

Post an image of the piece you are looking to replace even if all you have left over is pieces of it.

In the past, I have seen some Mustangs come through where interior parts fall out of the mainstream but can still be found by looking through Granada and Fairmont parts (including steering wheels).

Yes that is it, I think only 79 and 80 used these. I'm in need of finding one for the passenger side for sure. If anyone has one or knows where there is one, awesome.

Place a [Want] ad for an armrest in the Fox section of the Classifieds. Make sure you are clear in the title, what it is you're looking for. Color shouldn't be much of an issue since you can prep and dye any of them, any color you like (so long as you're not trying to match Canyon Red )

Here is where you want to create your Want ad:

Interior Exterior Parts

Parts include body parts and kits, interior items and audio/video, etc.
stangnet.com

Select the [WTB/Trade] thread tag and include the year in your thread title.

So I'm sitting here bored after dinner perusing the interwebs and thought of your arm rest.... you said you needed the right side? This may be overkill, but how about this?

Yeah that is it, I'd pay $60 just for the armrest, but the $115 ship I have a problem with. I don't deal with Facebook as my wife does and have tracked down a few armrests, hopefully I'll have luck as 79-81 are the only one's that'll work.

I suppose you could email them through Ebay and see if they'll split it for you. I'd think that that should adjust the shipping charges in your favor.

At some point
Supply meets demand
If you find what you want, but don't want to pay, then that is on you and you can't really complain anymore.
They are not falling off of trees...

Might I add
Shipping is not cheap anymore.
It cost me $750 to have a S/C shipped across the Country a few months ago...

That price is nuts, I shipped a qbert arcade machine from nj to nevada for $450 to someone.

With that said, he should either pay up or send the seller a message telling him to keep the door panel and just send the armrest at the full buy it now price just with shipping adjusted. I'm sure they will do it. Still gives them the panel to sell.
