The passenger door has an irritating rattle coming from inside the rear of the door below the lock knob. Any tricks I should know so I don't damage the trim/door panel when I remove it to see what is going on? Any common areas of noise there so I can have parts ready to go? Thanks.

Get a tool to pop uout clips. Looks like a screwdriver with a big flat head and v cut out in middle. Slide that around the edge of door panel and pop clips. Could be a a number of things making the rattle - I bet once you get panel off it will be obvious.

Thanks. I have done very little interior work and want to avoid stupid mistakes.

The good tool looks more like a spatula.

Remove the window and door handles, and arm rest pad, and the panel will come right off. $3, and worth every penny.

Excellent. I'll get one. Otherwise, I can picture my wife looking at a bent table fork, and saying, "with all those tools in your shop, you had to turn this into a pretzel?

Yeah, sawing a slot in a spatula is not the kind of thing you'll get a reward for.

Before you pull off the panel, is the crome or clear plastic gromet still in place on the hole that the pull knob comes up through?

If it is gone or broken, I'd bet my life savings that replacing it will fix your problem.

Good luck....

Yup. I replaced them recently with the later grommets that have a felt ring to cushion the lock knob. Didn't work. Into the door I go...
