I'm guessing its time to replace my ignition mod on my 93' 2.3L LX and does anyone know how to tell which way is up or down on it? I was looking at the replacement mod and it looks like it could bolt either way up or down, so does it matter? If anyone owns one of these cars sell lol The mod on it cost 35.00 more than my SVO's

I think it does matter... At both ends of the Ignition Module, there should be these small number's: 1, 6, 7 and 12... Just take your old Ignition Module off and see if #'s 1 and 6 are at the top... If they are, then when you put the new one on, put #'s 1 and 6 to the top. I bought a WELLS (from autozone) Ignition Module for my '93 and it had "UP" stamped on the casing. Also, make sure you apply "Heat Sink Grease" to the back plate of the Module or you'll probaly end up frying it!

Hope this help's you out.

Sure gives me the basics on how to get started thanks The once I saw at AZ just had the numbers but I will look at whats on my car and see what it has.

Did you notice any improvements when you installed the new one? I'm sure mine is going out but I wonder if it has anything to do with my car boging down from time to time

It might have something to do with your car bogging down from time to time... Some problem's that I was having with my car was: rough idle, had a loss of power all the time, car was cutting out, Check Engine Light was on and I found out that I wasn't getting any fire to the #1 and #4 plug's on the primary coil... When I replaced the Module, my idle improved greatly, CEL went away and the car felt like it picked up a little power... Does your Check Engine Light come on when your car start's bogging down?

If the module is going bad it will make the tach read half of the "real" rpm...easy way to tell if it's bad.

I get a check engine light once and a while but it cuts off before I can run a code check. Also it happens like once a month or more so I can't remember if it happens when it bogs down.

The reason I think its going out is its acts like the ole TFI mods. A few days ago I drove it to get a movie and I got on it pretty hard (as usual lol) and when I went to leave it wouldn't start. I waited 2-3 mins and tryed again with no start. I did this 2-3 more times of waiting a few minutes and it didn't help. So I called my wife to come get me a wrecker to get the car. I waited around for about 20 more mins with my wife waiting on the wrecker and I got bored and tryed again this time it started right up. This is not the first time this has happened, about a month ago it did it and we had to wait 10-15 mins for it to turn over.

I was a wreck I couldn't believe ole relyable left me stranded even if it was 20 mins This has been the longest trusting car I ever had and just think its my first Ford. Maybe Fords are good after all who knows but I find it VERY hard to even think of getting reed of her Now I'm a Chevy lover with two fords
