you should be fine as long as you keep it moving. i used to drive my tbirdsc (5spd) in the snow alot and never had any problems, as long as i stayed away from back roads.... but yeah, some added weight will help

f bodys have that little "well" area in the trunk. perfect place for some sand bags. good luck!

Get a couple of 60# bags of tube sand at Home Depot/Lowes and put 'em in the back. Keeping the gas tank above 1/2 full helps too.

Short-shift if you have a manual tranny, or try to launch in 2nd if you have an auto. This reduces the chance of wheel spin.

Drive looking WAY ahead of you, and brake early and gently. If it is really slick, bridges are DANGEROUS. When going over them, don't brake, don't shift, and don't change lanes.

do not be abrupt in any way...like TRWXXA said...brake gently and early, launch gently and keep the RPM's low...slip the clutch like a mo fo when you need to. wheelspin is your enemy, but also dont be afriad to walk the car out of someplace with wheelspin (its inevitable) just modulate throttle and dont spin excessively. i drove my 97 cobra in 5-6 inches of fresh powder and didnt have the slightest issue, though i was on g-force KDWS which are a bit better for snow than the tires you describe.

weight in the rear and some finesse when driving...you will be fine

drive it in 6th gear all the way back... no matter what speed

yeah definately put some weight out back and like everyone said stay a gear ahead of what you need, bog that bitch out your so low in the gear and just be careful around turns, esp sharp ones, nothing you won't be able to handle if you have had some side ways action before. Either way i'm sure you'll be fine, try and get there as early as possible and good luck.

My 94 Firebird was 10X worse in the snow than my stang Good luck.

Some sound advice in here. Take it from someone that has done it with my car for the past few years, and has an even worse car now. Slow and steady, and no sudden brake, gas, or clutch release and you should move around alright. Out that way it isnt as hilly as it is here in New a England and level ground is rarely a big issue (unless you have a lot of snow or ice).

I have driven my 5.0 in 10-12" of snow (yes unplowed 10-12") more than once, and as long as you keep momentum you should be alright. I have put the car through things people wouldnt believe merely because I had to. My 4cyl is worse than the 5.0, and makes me wish I had a 5.0 for a DD sometimes!

dont accellerate hard, dont brake hard, try to avoid down shifting, coast while in gear gently applying brakes. If Abs is activated hold your foot on the pedal with light even pressure. DON'T PUMP PEDAL! Use some additional weight in rear, and lastly USE COMMON SENSE.

Say what you want... I loved that car either way.



I did have Saleen Mustang rims on it... I had to have SOMETHING ford related.

Another thing... If the going gets too treacherous, don't be afraid to get off the road and wait for conditions to improve.
