I know there have been many threads on the drone topic, well here's another one.
Many have experienced a problem with the axle backs they have installed on the S-197 and I'm one of them. I have a not so well known set made by MPRB. They are better known for exhaust systems for trucks including 18 wheelers. This has nothing to do with the drone problem, I'm just providing some facts about MPRB for those who have never heard of them.

I experience drone around 1500 to 2000 RPM's and it sucks.
I am looking for advice, if you have any.

Here's what I have considered....

1. Install sound deadening material in the trunk.

2. Install Resonators, not sure just how this will help. Your comments would be appricated.

3. I have considered replacing my MBRP's with Bullitt type axle backs.
I hear that sound really strong but have no drone.

I love the sound the MBRP mufflers make, except the droning part.

Any other thoughts on this problem?
What have you tried and did it work?

I would first try the cheapest route of putting some dyna mat in but that will deaden the sound completely not just the drone.

You may get better responses in the 2005+ 3V sub-forums but there's a huge thread on the corral about welding in resonators to cancel out the droning and apparently it's pretty effective in Foxes and SN95s.

In general, sound deadening won't make much difference with drone. The best solution is to swap out mufflers for something that won't drone so much.

Your current mufflers have alot to do with the drone problem.
I subjest installing a axle back exhaust that is a straight through
design and not chambered. You should definitley look into a Magnaflow
axle back as they are a straight through design.I love my Magnaflow
catback and the way it sounds.I also get no drone problems just like
what you get with all of the chambered mufflers.

Change your mufflers or add a new gear to the rear end.

+1, And they are a strait through design for a bit more power. And yes I once had Flowmasters and experienced the drone.
